Below you will find all relevant information about our cruises. Please check the current conditions before your planned trip, as vessel deployments and boarding locations may vary. Our team will be happy to assist you with planning your journey.
All information refers to standard wheelchairs.
Wheelchairs must be registered in advance for all cruises. We recommend booking your preferred cruise at least one week before departure, as additional crew members are required once a certain number of wheelchair users are on board.
Walking aids and rollators can also be brought on board. Advance notification is recommended.
For day trips that include a coach transfer, transportation for wheelchair users on the coaches used is unfortunately not possible.
An exception applies to guests who only require a wheelchair temporarily and are able to board and disembark independently. The wheelchair must be foldable and storable in the coach’s luggage compartment.
Electric wheelchairs can be accommodated on board MS Admiral Tegetthoff, MS Dürnstein and MS Wachau. The sister ships MS Admiral Tegetthoff and MS Dürnstein are equipped with special reinforced ramps to help overcome the steps in the boarding area.
Unfortunately, heavy multifunctional wheelchairs and nursing care wheelchairs cannot be accommodated. The ramps are intended solely for boarding the vessels and are not suitable for overcoming stairs at the piers.
Please note that barrier-free boarding and disembarkation is not possible at all landing stages. Depending on the water level, access to the excursion vessels is provided via a gently sloping, wheelchair-accessible gangway leading to a floating pontoon and then on to the vessel. Wherever possible, ramps are provided to help overcome the boarding step. For boarding and disembarking, wheelchairs may need to be lifted. Our crew will be happy to assist you.
Please check which vessel is operating your cruise and which landing stages are planned before your journey, and take the respective boarding heights into account. These are generally designed for boarding heights of 90 cm or 150 cm. Whether barrier-free boarding is possible depends on the combination of landing stage, boarding height and the vessel in operation.

Strollers are welcome on board our vessels. We recommend reserving your cruise in advance and letting us know which type of stroller you will be bringing (e.g. a foldable buggy or a stroller for infants and toddlers). This allows us to reserve a table with sufficient space whenever possible. Please note that there are no dedicated storage areas for strollers on board.
For family and children's themed cruises, we recommend using alternative carrying options such as baby carriers or slings where possible, as limited space means we cannot accommodate all strollers during these popular events.
We also recommend bringing games or other entertainment to keep children occupied during the cruise. On board MS Austria, our youngest passengers can enjoy a dedicated play area located at the aft section of the main deck. The other vessels do not feature children's play areas.

A defibrillator is available on board all DDSG Blue Danube vessels. Our crew and service staff receive regular first aid training to ensure the best possible assistance in an emergency.
Dogs are generally carried free of charge but must be kept on a leash and wear a muzzle at all times. We recommend informing us during the reservation process if you intend to bring a dog on board.
Assistance dogs include guide dogs for the blind, service dogs and signal dogs that have successfully passed the officially recognised certification and are registered as assistance dogs in the disability identification card. Assistance dogs are exempt from the muzzle and leash requirements.
